There's a wood spreadsheet, the 2nd sheet has current observations and plans for firewood for 2023.
tl:dr, probably about 10 - 15 bags of wood to burn from mid september until, I dunno, May?
2023-11-20
ordered from beneficial, but they've made bag sizes smaller, website said couldn't deliver until 15th dec, but they're delivering this load end 2023-11-30

got a load delivered by flockton, it's partially barn dried ash, so that's stacked along the back wall and also the pile either side of the outdoor tap.
Tried burning a couple of pieces on day of getting it, once it was lit, it burned really really well, gave out lots of heat, took ages to burn through, long burning warm coals etc. Only downside is it took a lot to get it going, and didn't really get going properly until a block of kiln dried was thrown on too.

ordered a bag from beneficial, can't deliver until 19th Jan
2024-02-12
Beneficial load was sizzly and a pain to light (Although still burned a bit better than partially barn dried flockton.)
They also can't deliver now until March, and their price has gone up, and their bags are smaller
So called flockton, ordered pickup load (2.5 bags, half kiln dried, half softwood) to be delivered next week,

stopped dining fires
2024-03-25
a few days of no living room fire
about half of the last load didn't get used, so carried into 2024/2025

This is dependent on big energy project, but there's currently a chance that by winter, we'll have a heatpump, solar PV and battery.
I currently have approx 2 bags worth of firewood in garage.
Dad needs 7.5, I suggested 10 so I have spare.
Issue is if we get heatpump this year, we don't need as much wood and we loose a bunch of space for it in the garage, which completely changes wood capacity planningπ

Got the wood store built, and filled, got maybe 1.5 - 2 bags already in the garage, plus some fresh cut out back, so coming into year with about 10 tonnes.
7.5 tonne bag's worth was delivered firest week in sept for 485 barn dried from flockton.
This morning was the first day lighting the dining room fire.
First living room fire was last week too.
2025-03-31
Didn't have living room fire yesterday for first time.
dining fires have been very intermittent this year, especially with increased heating. Specifically had a gap around January as life got in the way a bit.
Then picked up again, but not had regular daily dining fires for at least 2 weeks.
2025-05-28 money and wood w/ Dad
325+635= 960 sent to flockton
960-637= 323 spent by us
But then he basically bought 2 bags off us at 64.
So we can see it as we bought 17 bags (15 from flockton, 2 from me) @ 64 /bag
Dad got 10 bags = 640
I got 7 bags = 448
