Got a few big trees, not many: 3 - 4 regular size trees, and 1 big ol' TPO'd tree, as well as a couple of neighbouring trees.

Tree surgeon came 2024-06-15. Is always a love/hate relationship, I like the trees being there, and the greenery but the high up trees are hard to maintain, generate a lot of mess and block out a lot of light as they get big.

After the tree surgeons been, it's almost like a new haircut: there's something a little uncomfortable when something that grows slowly changes quickly, and I always have to remind myself that it will grow back.

I don't mind most of the trees on the property, and trimming them occaisionally feels the fair/sensible/responsible thing to do, and beneficial for the tree too - again, like a haircut for it!

I'm particularly conflicted about the big TPO'd tree though. Because it's so tall and so close to the house, it particularly overbearing. There's potentially an opportunity to pollard it due to some rot in the main fork. Pollarding it to just above the height of the house would be hugely beneficial for solar and general tree mess. But it really is such a big majestic tree.
